Ramps and TMC2100

Hi,

I bought some TMC2100 drivers recently, but needed to change to 24V so also bought one of the MKS GEN 1.4 boards.

I have the driver in d board configured but wanted to confirm that I have the ramps jumpers underneath the drivers set correctly.

Currently I have all three jumpers installed (as I did with A4988 drivers). But it seems like the jumper selection is specific to the driver you have installed. So all threee jumpers is 1/16 on the A4988, but 1/32 on the DRV8825

If the jumpers set it to a higher number of micro steps than supported by the driver it will operate at the maximum number of micro steps for that driver. For now the default is maximum micro stepping (all jumpers installed under drivers), which results in 1/16 micro stepping for A4988 drivers and 1/32 for DRV8825. Although for efficiency and accuracy you should opt for the biggest steps that will yield sufficient resolution. Eg. you don't need 5000 steps per millimeter and micro-steps less than 1/16 have reduced torque per step, reduced accuracy and higher driver load].

But I cant find anything on the TMC2100, except this on banggood [www.banggood.com]

Might be worth mentioning I have the latest version 1.3 drivers that only have one hole for probing vref.

I dont know why we bother putting info in the wiki... no one ever looks at it!!!

Maybe, if all Wiki documents were YT-videos... eye rolling smiley

Maybe if the wiki actually contained the answer?

My question is how to set the jumpers on the ramps board for 1/16 stepping. Not how to bridge the pads on the TMC2100 for stealthchop/spreadCycle .

Look again at the link

In the middle is a HUGE table

Please get glasses or learn to read.

But since you wont... there are three options for 1/16th microstepping

CFG1	CFG2	MicroStepping	Interpolation	Mode
VCC	VCC	16 µ-steps	none spreadCycle
GND	open	16 µ-steps	256 µ-steps	spreadCycle
open	open	16 µ-steps	256 µ-steps	stealthChop

CFG3 is also left off...

So all jumpers off is what most people want.

If you dont want the Interpolation put jumpers on CFG1 and CFG2

NB CFG1 has a pull down to gnd on most ramps. So it will use spreadCycle unless you actually remove the pin from the driver module (or remove the resistor on the ramps)

There really is no need for sarcasm. Forums are a place to learn and share information.

I was under the impression that the table you are talking about refers to the CFG1 and CFG2 pads on the driver itself?

As this image illustrates -

( I have 'CFG1' and 'GND' bridged on all the drivers. )

Maybe then the jumpers have no function for V1.3, same as for the older versions? With a multimeter you could beep the cfg-pads and cfg pins. If there's continuity, remove all jumpers.

So to put this drivers (fysec v1.3) in spredcycle mode we just need to solder cg1 to gnd (to connect pin do board using the small point in board) and them leave the cfg 2 and cfg 3 in board without all jumpers below the driver, to use this driver in spreadcycle?

Thanks

Yes.
If you use the protector-moduls from watterott, there is a pad to solder to set this bridge, so you can leave the tmc-driver modules unchanged.
