RAMPS 1.4 with external MOSFET

Hi all,

I recently melt a ramps 1.4 build in mosfet by trying to heat a Mk2B heatbed to 110 degrees, so I decided to get an external mosfet.

I'm kind of new to 3d printing but I watched a lot of youtube videos showing how to set this up.

Now, with the external mosfet I burned out the wire that comes from D8 to the mosfet Control in.

Everything works just fine without the external mosfet, but I don't want to burn anything else.

I don't know what I'm missing, if anyone can help I would be grateful.

... you'll need a "logic level" MOSFET, which can be switched with 3-5 Volts and best place a resistor with some Kiloohms from a D-pin to the MOSFET's gate ... and external power support form the PS.

Check for application samples to understand the switching logic of the MOSFET in relation to your target ...

If its a proper 3d printer external mosfet D8 is just connected to an optocoupler. and it can be anything from 3.3v to 24v without any issues.
