I may not be able to make it as I'm flying to Austin the next morning. Put me down as a maybe (assuming I get all packed in time).

I see no signature on your post.

For url's you need a square bracket then url=http://........... (space) "the name you want displayed" (no quotes) then another square bracket

The cut off line in my signature is just a really long underscore.

As an aside.. Here is my latest print attempt... Getting closer, but so much minor tweaking required... can't wait for spring break so I can devote some serious time to figuring out the issues..

I would say you need to cool the upper part of the hotend from the look of it. Do you have a fan blowing across it yet?

I would also guess that you need to purge the hotend a LOT more before starting the print. You want the filament coming out like a smaller version of what is going in not runny or syrupy.

I think its a combination of pinching the filament too tightly against the hob/ or too loose and stripping it or the hotend is jamming which is unlikely unless there is something in the filament that caused it to jam. I can print ABS at 220C without any issues with no fan, but long prints (3+ hrs) will eventually cause issues for me as the heat travels up.

But Bobby, If you want the start and end .gcodes I use let me know. It ill pre-purge the nozzle for you, and once the print finishes move away.

Hey guys, Thanks for the tip Brad. I had a fan connected to stabilize my psu but it was a bit big. I have now mounted the fan this morning. Because it's a little big it's tilted up but it hits the black part of the jhead for sure. Not the tipt though. See the pic below.. let me know if it need adjusting in your guys opinion.

The start and end g.codes for purging would be great Eugene.. I'll add them to the slicer commands so I dont have to do it. Thanks

I think it may also be an issue with my extruder steps... I'll do the measurement you suggested hopefully tonight

I was assuming you were printing PLA since you have a bed covered in blue tape which is why I suggested the fan (Must have for PLA) but if you are printing ABS like Eugene then it is not as required.

I would also agree with Eugene that it could be a hobbed bolt issue, either too tight or too loose. But I have never really found the tension very important other than to have it tight.

But most of all CALIBRATE your E-steps-per-mm. No reason to even try printing before that point unless you like to waste time and plastic.

Thanks Brad, I think I have my e-steps right... I think my problem is the kapton versus blue tape.. so glad I had the Canadian Tire 5$ scratch coupon so the tape only cost me 99 cents haha. Either I'll steal kapton from Eugene next week.. or I'll wait ill my 30mm wide roll comes in..I have a roll of the thin stuff.. if I get really desperate I'll lay it down one strip at a time... or 'con'vince the wife to...

if i didn't suddenly have to redo the plumbing and put tile around my bathtub i'd come to this meet. but i've got broken things to fix and i like to shower... so I probably won't make it this time. sad smiley

but i do have my printer working and printing things in ABS.. not large parts tho, because my heated bed isn't hot enough to keep the ABS from warping. ordered some PLA from mixshop, but have to wait for them to replenish their stock before they ship. looking forward to a day i can meet some fellow reprappers.

To be honest no. Between work, family and getting our townhome ready to list there really hasn't been time. Once the place is sold I will get back on it. Also not being able to come out to meets doesn't help with me getting stuff built.
