That's normal. You can use some solutions (possibly mixed) :

- print slower.
- print multiple small objects together.
- use a fan to help the object cool down faster.

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

I can print tiny things like this: [www.thingiverse.com] simply by making the minimum layer time 20 seconds, no fan.

You do. See the "cooling" tab, change the "Slow down if layer print time is below" option.

Looks like your are using a 0.35 nozzle, right ?

Could you please let us know what are :
- you layer height (seems quite thin).
- the plastic you use (kind seems to be PLA, what is the vendor).
- your print speeds.
- the extrusion temperature (and did you verify the actual nozzle temperature with a thermometer to rule out temperature reading errors).

It's possible you're going too fast / too hot.

Other optional informations which could help people diagnose your problem :
- Electronics
- Firmware
- Hotend
- Extruder (and wether it is a bowden setup or not).
