first print quality issues
April 11, 2012 09:42PM
I am having a hard time figuring out what i need to change, first off my nozzle is fairly blunt and it drags and plastic around that is not in place properly and makes a bigger mess, i am going to machine the nozzle to be more pointed. But other than that i have attached a picture of my first 3 20mm boxes (left to right is the order they were printed) and they look awful to me, i have also attached a screen shot of my slic3r settings.

I have calibrated all 3 axises and the extruder's steps per mm to +/- .03mm

the first layer looks good (see attached), then it gets progressively worse each layer

any thoughts?

Layer height is a little high for a 0.35 nozzle. Try 0.25 layer.

Speeds are really high for your first prints. Try 20mm/s perimeters and 35mm/s infill.
