Odd distortion in print in X axis direction

I thought I'd have a go at printing the Wade Extruder Herringbone cog whilst at the West Of England RUG yesterday. I've attached photos.

To cut a long story short, My ABSPrusa Mendel printed the difficult bit, i.e. the cog teeth very well. However, the infill and holes in the cog looked really odd. We couldn't work out why this had happened especialy as the overall cog was round to within .05 mm.

Got back home this morning and found that the X Axis pulley grub screw was very loose. It must have been getting looser and looser as the print progressed.

So, as I said above, pictures linked below for reference.

Tag. Distortion in X axis. infill not touching walls. Distored vertical walls in axis direction.

Distorted top face, X axis runs left to right
Beautiful teeth!
A good firts layer but some evidence of the X axis slip even here

I'm astounded that you were able to print that with a loose pulley. One thing I do notice is that your bottom layer is not completely full. That means too little plastic extruded or extruder slipping at the start of the print (maybe it hadn't reached temperature yet).

Also the infill and perimeter of the first layer (only) look misaligned.
