HIC Prusa i3 Stops Extruding Mid-print
November 25, 2015 04:53PM
I recently built a Prusa i3 using the HIC kit. The first 3 or so prints came out fine, then I ran into a weird problem in which around 10-20%, the extruder would stop moving for 30 seconds, then it would resume printing without extruding any new filament. The spool is above the extruder without any sharp turns, I cleaned the hot end, tightened the feeding gear, and checked the extruder assembly, all to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas to fix this issue?

Sounds like interference in the cables going to the SD card.

Does the chip on the extrudet stepstick get too hot to touch? It may be overheating. Try adjusting the motor current using the tiny potmeter on the stepstick.

Hey,
Thanks for all the help, it turns out the problem was that the thermistor on the extruder was loose, so the temperature readings were 50 degrees less than normal, so the extruder's hot end would overheat adn some software trigger would stop it or something like that. Anyways, when I secured the thermistor, it started working fine again.

Thanks
