Z axis stuck when print starts

Here's what happens, pronterface homes all axis, everything moves fine, z axis homes and goes up a bit, extruder heats up, and when it reaches the temperature to start printing, z axis tries to go down a bit but it makes a noise but doesn't move, like it is stuck. I'm not sure how to fix this, since I can move z manually with no problems. Can somebody help?

EDIT: I have determined that the z axis doesn't work properly when controlling it from my computer, but moves a bit, get stuck, moves a bit more, but when I control it from the lcd it works just fine.

You need to adjust the stepper driver output current depending on the board you have there should be small pots to adjust and they could be off by a fraction of a turn and in this case on the border line of not moving. Locate the pot for Z and turn slightly while running too much either way the more will stop, make noise or overheat. There are exact ways using a meter posted all over web.
