Over the years I have had the occasional Z axis problem. Searching the forum has often, but not always provided me with a solution. I had the most problems with a Scalar XL printer. The solution was to put the Z axis flexible joint in pre-tension with a 5mm Steel ball between the stepper shaft and the acme shaft. Result: beautiful even layers.
