Hey all,

I have found a way to stick Taulman to Kapton, hopefully it helps you out.

** Please see the newer video's which show it is possible to print directly onto glass. **

I've just bought some of this stuff, haven't had chance to test it yet.

So you are putting a layer of glue down from one of those Uhu sticks?

Is there a blog post or a wiki page about how to do this?

Thanks.

Just paste the glue on as though you were using it on paper, you just need a coating - not a thick layer.
I apply it to the bed when warm, only 40 degrees or so.

Be careful when removing the print, it will tear the Kapton up.
I use water to dissolve the glue bond, the print lifts pretty easily then.

No wiki yet (I have only been testing this for 2 days) and I don't have a blog. ;p

There is now a page - [reprap.org]
I've never done one before so im sure there is massive room for further detail and better editing!

"Kapton tape, Uhu stick, warm bed etc"

But it will also print directly onto blue painter tape, correct?

Thanks for the wiki page.

If it sticks to the glue, why the need for Kapton at all?

As far as I know this hasn't been done before, so it was all an experiment for me.
I worked through the different, common bed materials for the sake of demonstrating for people that it does work but also what the pros/cons are with each material.
I have posted videos of Painters tape,Kapton and glass - because that was my order of testing.
Each video shows that it works, but also the downsides with tapes. (they rip off unless care is taken)

The last test shows that it works with plain glass, and that is the ideal for me - and the completion of my test.

The entire point of this exercise is that I love the Nylon and think its a great product but I still mainly print PLA.
To have to change my entire bed from glass to wood or Garolite, just to print Nylon - its annoying.
This is a way to print PLA 90% of the time and then easily "convert" the machine to print Nylon.
