CURA calibration help!

Everyone keeps saying CURA is better than Slic3r so I downloaded it and tried to print out a .4mm wall cube to test it out and man was I shocked when it came out worse than Slic3r.
Two things I love are the insane fast slice times and the ability to view the model and paths without posting the Gcode.
One thing I REALLY didnt like (other than the failed part) was the program start. Slic3r normally heats the bed, then homes, then heats the tip. CURA started heating the tip and bed at the same time then homed. So once the program started I didnt have any ABS coming out even after 3 rings around the part because it had all leaked out while the bed was heating up.

Two things id like some help with:
1-anyone have a config file for a .4 magma tipped makerfarm unit to help give me a starting point.
2-can someone help me with the pre-gcode to heat in the order that I love from Slic3r. I copied the start gcode from a known good Slic3r file but CURA ignores the order or something.

Please help me out on this one guys, I love everything about CURA other than these little things.
Also is there any good info on configuring CURA, I looked around for a bit but its all junk and random info from what ive seen so far.

Thanks!

CURA can't really do thin walled objects.

If your ABS is oozing out that much before your print you can either lower your temps or use a skirt to prime the nozzle before it starts on the actual object.

I see. I gave up on the thin walled box and just printed some nautilus gears. They came out great but I had the issue with the lack of plastic on the start of the print.
I have a skirt with 2 rounds that was ~12-15 linear inches long and it just barely started coming out before it started the print. When I used Slic3r it only went about .5" before extruding the rest of the skirt without issues.

It does look like the end Gcode retracts -1mm at the end of the print, I guess thats not helping me on starting on the new print because I have to extrude atleast 1mm to reprime the tip.
Can anyone help on the start Gcode so I can (in this order):
1. heat the bed
2. home axes
3. heat the tip
4. run

Thanks
