hi all,

i just assembled a new reprap. parts coming from my previous build except for a new hotend.

whenever i print, first few layers comes out a-ok. after a that, filament isnt as continous as it was. there are breaks in the prints.

google for the trouble and came across this [www.reddit.com]

my question is: what is the solution to a gummed hot end?

thanks in advance.

Are you printing PLA or ABS?

What hotend do you use? Do you have cooling at the upper part of the hotend?

Can you give us more information? Temperatures, print speed, etc.

i tried printing high speed and low speed. 100mm/sec and 50 mm/sec

pla - tried 175c to 210c
abs - 230c-240c

tried slicing with kiss and slic3r.

i'll try changing the hotend later.

thanks

I haven't had much success with slic3r. Its probably my fault, but I started with Cura, and it does great. I would recommend it to anyone.

I would try slower still. I print between 5 and 40mm/sec.
