What size Hotend Nozzle should I get?
June 06, 2014 01:58PM
Yes, I have searched! I am building a Prusa i3 and have not found any help on selecting nozzle size.
I am interested Detail & Quality rather than Speed and will be printing mostly smaller parts. Can someone
point me toward a Resource?
Thanks---
Paul

0.3mm nozzle for detail and quality. I've always used .35 and .3. I tried .4 but the detail wasn't enough for me, as with most people who have tried different sizes and like detail over speed.

I use a .35 exclusively and while I have some .50 nozzles I like the quality look better of the .35

0.3here as well. So far it is the best compromise between speed and quality

I was on the same boat as you not long ago. I ended up getting a 0.5mm nozzle. Reportedly its much faster than a 0.3mm nozzle, but I'm just not getting the fine detail others are able to be able to get in their prints on tiny objects. Nonetheless what detail I am able to get is still respectable.
Faster or slower with more detail? That is the question..

0.3mm nozzle for detail and quality. I've got a 0.3mm and I can print parts a lot smaller than most people simply because of nozzle size. My detail, although my printer isn't the best to do so well, is also greater than most. Any smaller and supposedly you will have issues with extrusion and all. People say you have problems at .35 and below, but I've always used .35 and .3. I tried .4 but the detail wasn't enough for me. I've never had an issue related to nozzle size.

Hey MrDoc, there are thousands of people using 0.3 nozzles (and smaller) - with great quality. It's not an exclusive club by any means.

My apologies, and honestly too. Re-reading that made me see just how self-righteous that was. Edited them out.
