Printing with support/ removing support

Does anyone have a good tutorial/tips/guide page for printing with support? I'm printing my wade body extruder right now and I think I have to print with support because there are overhangs. I'm printing with rectilinear and 3mm spacing. The hard part is removing the support. It tends to stick to the outside layer quite hard. Anyone have advice or any good tools recommendation when it comes to support?

I've been really amazed with the support structures Slic3r generates. They're offset slightly from the print, so they give enough support to hold things up, but pull away with almost no effort and leave very little evidence of ever having been there.

The wades extruder body should print ok without support, it will need some cleanup around the bearings.

But as Opus said, the support function in Slic3r has been greatly improved, just make sure you have one of the newer versions, as support in 1.0.0 was broken, and it was almost impossible to remove it from the part.
