Print not perpendicular to print bed

Print not perpendicular to print bed
March 16, 2015 02:43PM
Hi everyone,

When I print anything at the minute, i have found that the resulted outcome is not perpendicular to the bed. It comes out more like a parrellelgram.

As far as I can tell/measure, the print bed is level and the X & Y axis are square to each other. Also, the extruder looks to be square to the bed?

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Please see the attached images for an example of what I mean.

Thanks!

Edit: I should have also stated that it is Y direction of the print that is wrong.

Hi,

You didn't what kind of printer you have.

The fault is in your z-axis, it is not moving in a straight line.

The axes of your printer are not orthogonal. You test for orthogonality by printing a rectangular solid and measuring the diagonals in each plane. When the axes are orthogonal the diagonals will have the same length. I wrote a spreadsheet that can help figure out the error and the mechanical correction to apply. You can DL it here: [mark.rehorst.com]

The title says XY but you apply the same principle to any pair of axes.
