slicer making holes in model

slicer making holes in model
May 07, 2015 01:15PM
I am trying to print a somewhat difficult model (IMHO).
When I slice it with sli3r or cura it creates holes in the wall of the model.
The wall is not the thinest part. The hole positions r not the same for either slicer.
I did not print this, I am only looking at the layer structure in Repetier.
I tried changing the layer thickness (0.1, 0.2, 0.4) and the holes r still there but maybe in differnet spots.
I have a 0.4mm nozzle and 1.75mm filament.
Why is this doing this??

Change your extrusion width.

my extrusion width is default (auto). I have no clue as to what this does compared to layer height which I understand.
so what do i chg it to?

The slicers can struggle with thin sections that don't correspond to a multiple of the extrusion width. Sometimes they will try to compensate by tweaking extrusion width. Not all versions of all slicers depict the actual extrusion width they will be using. If it's a functional part on which a gap would be problematic, try to design in multiples of your nozzle diameter.
