So I ordered a hesine prusa I3. After building it, I tried to install the drivers by manually installing "FTDI USB driver" (per the instructions) which wasn't on the flash memory they gave me. The closest file is "FTDIBUS." There is no automatic install wizard. So I emailed the printer seller and they told me that the printer doesn't work for windows 8 or windows 10. She told me to ship the Geeetech Melzi V2.0 controller to her in China (it's about a $50 controller) and she would ship me back a controller that works with windows 8 and windows 10 and even mac she said. After I found out it'll cost me about $100 to ship it to her (and wait for it to ship back), I asked her twice if she would tell me the name of the new contoller that she is planning to send me. I figured it would probably be cheaper to just by a new one. She didn't reply to that part of my emails though. Either she ignored it or didn't understand what I said probably.
I contacted Geeetech about their Melzi V2.0. They said it does work with windows 8 but hasn't been tested with windows 10. I asked them if they knew where I could get the software (assuming from their website). The person I talked to didn't know where I could get software for that Melzi V2.0.
I just want this printer to work. I'm thinking about shipping it back to China for $100 but I'm not confident the seller really knows what their talking about. The seller said it doesn't work for windows 8 and someone from geeetech's site said it does. I think it makes more sense to just buy another controller so that I avoid the $100 shipping to China and it'll probably cost around that price I'm guess. I don't know which board will accommodate the parts on the printer and work. Does anyone know where I can get the software for that controller and does anyone know a controller that would work, preferably with windows 10 (I'd like to update windows too)? I'd like to be able to have software with it too which seems obvious but I also figured the printer would work with a version of windows that has been out for 2-3 years so I'm starting to question what may be obvious to these Chinese companies. Thanks for reading and for the help.
