Vertical lines appearing on round object

Vertical lines appearing on round object

Hello Guys,

If you see the attatched images, you will see some vertical lines.

Why do theese appear?
I have checked my belt tension, and they are really tight.
Do i need to alter my accelerations?
Is it over extrusion?

Need more information. What type of printer is it, what electronics and firmware is it running, and what slicer did you use? Are you printing from SD card, or over a USB connection - in which case, what host program are you using? What is the approximate horizontal spacing between the ridges?

It's only a guess, but as the vertical lines appear on the straight parts too, I wonder if you are using a delta printer running firmware that uses segmentation, and you have the segments per second set too low to get good print quality.

Oh i'm sorry! The post was made in the haze of the morning tongue sticking out smiley

its printed on an i3, runnning on RAMPS 1.4 with marlin firmware. The extruder is a E3D Chimera.
I'm printing from an SD card.
The slicer is Simplify3d at 0.1mm, and aprox. 80mm/sec.
The spacing between the ridges is aprox 0.7cm to 1cm apart.

In that case, I am puzzled! Where did you get the STL file from? The ridges on the curved parts could indicate that the tessellation in the STL file is rather course, but that doesn't explain the ridges on the straight parts. I guess one other possibility is that your extruder isn't feeding the filament smoothly, for example because the hobbed part is eccentric, although that doesn't seem likely. Do you get the same effect if you print a cube?

No i dont sad smiley Normally it prints really good!

I check to see the if the movement of the extruder was smooth, and to the eye, it was perfect.
Hmm. I'm leaning towards the STL being "broken".
The STL is the dice tower from thingiversesmiling smiley

Heres the STL. STL
Notice theres some small lines which makes out the "bricks" that the tower is made from?

Its around theese lines the ridges are formed.
My guess is as following. Either i am printing too fast, or the printer is either on wobbling surface or is too loose somewhere in the structure it self.

Please can you link to the exact STL file on thingyverse that you used.

I'm sorry the STL is a bit modified.
But that is the exact one i printed from.

Looks like our posts crossed, I started composing my last reply before you posted the link to the STL. I've just loaded that STL in slic3r, and I can see that each brick of the castle is made from only about 5 segments. So the STL is at fault.

I'm so glad you've concluded that grinning smiley Thank you DC42!

However, are you sure ? There someone in the same community who printed it with less ridges than mine :/
