Unknown pattern in my prints
February 17, 2016 03:10PM
Hi:

I'm pretty new to 3d printing, I got a Davinci 1.0 and I decided to start using Simplify3D.

I'm currently getting a pattern in my layers, it seems that every few layers there is some kind of offset. I getting the pattern in everything I print, specially when printing at 0.2.

Attached you will see what I'm talking about and hopefully someone can help me out.

Thank you,

You are not adding a solid layer infill at these intervals?

Like to be z-wobble. Do you have a zoomed in picture?

Are you z-axes on threaded rods?

This link could be extremely helpful in investigating z-artifacts. [www.evernote.com]

That should be:
1 - mechanical problem, related to lift position or the z-axis.
2 - too much plastic coming out. maybe you have too much flow rate here.

It looks as though your printing issue accurse every 8th layer. Check your slicer settings to see if it is performing an action related to the 8th layer or the measured distance between indents.

I'm fairly new to 3d printing as well but I have a thought. Going off of what DreamKnights pointed out that the defect occurs every 8th layer. Sounds like a Z-motor is slipping (set screws tight?) or maybe a broken gear tooth?

check your slicer settings first if it was your motor or z wobble it would be random throughout the print
