Top layer quality issue

Hi
I am having trouble with top layer, it has some lines higher than others, plus looks like scar lines and I get missed lines, please look at image I have attached, I am using cura for slicing. Any ideas?

Possibly over extrusion causing the nozzle to flatten the bead. Where it stops and starts the filament can go sideways and it forms a ridge. The diagonal drag mark shows you don't have a lift on move value set.
I am not familiar with cura so can't tell you the exact settings.

Hi
Thank you for your advice, it's been driving me crazy as it's a good printer but really struggling on top surface. I understand the over extrusion, but I am not sure about the lift on move, I will have to Google that lol.

It's called Z Hop on retraction. I have mine set at .5, which is slightly more than the thickest layer(usually .2) I intend to print.

Hi JmRobert
I will try that now, surface quality is a lot better now I have used mccarmens advice but still can't get rid of the travelling line.

Hi both of you

I have tried less flow multiplier and the surface is a lot better, but zhop did not stop printer leaving this line on print, I assume it's a travel line, any other ideas, print looks fine but line ruins it.

Thank you

Have you tried combing mode "no skin" or "off" in combination with z-hop?

Hi lars
No haven't tried that yet, did notice the combing check box is ticked, I will try turning it of. I don't know where to find the no skin feature ?

I use Cura 2.6 and 2.7-beta atm. Don't know what version it was added, sorry...

Z-Hop should have worked. What settings did you use? I don't know Cura but it may not be enough to just turn it on. You have to set a height. JM said its "Z hop on retraction" so you may need to have retraction turned on as well.

Retraction is turned on and I set the z hop to .5 also I will try cura 2.6 and see how that goes.
