m851

Hi All, New to the forum. The issue that I have is that my printer seems to be ignoring my M851 commands and therefore I cannot get the right squish for the first layer. I don't know where this is handled in the config h file. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

How are you using M851?
Do you use a capital M or lowercase m?

Hi Marinus, Capital. I have done a bit of checking and it seems to be working now. This is a newly built printer and I am still getting all of the settings right. Thanks for your response.

I think mainly that it was bad resolution on the z axis. My print quality was bad and that turned out to be the extruder motor. I had fitted a 1.8 degree motor which was a little weak so I swapped it out for a stronger one which was also a 0.9 degree step....huge difference in quality! I think that having such a large amount of settings to get right on a new machine causes some confusion, also being a senior citizen can be a handicap.
