A8 E3Dv6 and silk PLA filament help
February 26, 2020 06:17PM
I have an Anet A8, running Marlin 1.1.8 on a stock A8 controller with a custom direct extruder on an E3Dv6 hotend, custom part cooler blower. Whew.
Normally this is a solid performer, but I just cannot get silk PLA to print for more than about an hour without "kinda" jamming.
I say "kinda" because all I have to do is wait for the hot end to cool to room temp, then fire it back up and I can move and remove the jammed filament.

Other PETG and PLA prints great on this machine.

I have tried the following:
Drop temperature to 195C, blower from 30 to 100%
Raise temp to 200, 210, 220, 230C with 100% blower (blower does not cause nozzle temp to budge from set temp)
Z-hop on and off
retraction on and off
speeds from 40 to 80mm/s (base speed on Simplify3D, adjusted is a lot less)
.95 to 1.0 flow rate
Run eSun cleaning filament through it
Replaced the .4mm nozzle

The very first time, I got a 2.5 hr print to come out perfectly. All subsequent prints have failed.
I have gotten this to print on a
custom "micro" Kossel: 200C, 40mm/s, 100% print fan, E3Dv6
custom Cartesian 200C, 60mm/s, 100% print fan, E3Dv6

I am flummoxed and am looking for more troubleshooting ideas from my brothers/sisters in arms.
