Top surface pattern

I am very new to 3d printing, so this is all new for me. I have been managing to figure out most of my issues, with mostly successful prints. But this one is beating me down, like a whac-a-mole game.

I am trying to print some models of dogs, but I cannot get the top surface to print smoothly. They always have contour lines. Is this just how 3d print surfaces are, and I will need to fill them after printing? Or is there a way I can get these gaps filled with the printer.

I am using a Geeetech A10, with Ultimaker Pura. The preview looks like below (on the top of the models head), and so do the prints. I have tried dozen's of different settings in Cura to improve the preview, but none of them have worked.

Thank you in advance for any tips!

Yes, that's typical. Try printing in thinner layers...
