ridges in prints (solved)

First off I'd like share that Slic3r is great and has given me better quality prints with one minute making settings then days of tuning with the previous "one" I've been using.

However, I've been noticing ridges along the z axis in my slic3r prints and was curious if this is an isolated event or not.

I'm attaching a picture showing the ridges. The piece on the right was using slic3r and the piece on the left I did with sfact. Both used the same stl. It's like my flow rate is slowly increasing and decreasing across 10 layers or so. I believe it's a slic3r issue as I've only observed it on my slic3r prints. I'm using 0.5.7

If the stl file itself is not to blame, that would seem like a mechanical problem to me. Hold the part up to your leadscrew, if the bumps matches the threads it could be a bent screw that draws the entire x gantry out of alignment with every rotation. Does the same thing happen to other parts?

As to why you don't see this with sfact, it could be a different flow or speed irons out the flaws.

Nice prints though.

I get a similar problem to this - could it be slightly fluctuating temperature? I also get a similar (but less regular) effect if I manually adjust my nozzle temperature when the machine is running.

Like Nudel said, that looks very much like mechanical Z-wobble.

The ridges match the thread pitch of my lead screws exactly.
I'll see what I can do true up my lead crews.
