No GCode generated for thin wall (How thin is thin??)

Hi All!

First of all: Really great work! I Just started using slic3r since 0.6.0 and I find it really great!

However I have a small problem..... I designed a test object (to check several parameter on different slicer-settings) which contains a couple of thin walls (0.4, 0.5.....).
Netfabb and SF4x are slicing and printing this faily well, but 0.6.0 of slicer doesn't generate GCode for the thinner objects!

Here the STL of the object:

And here the generated GCode (settings are attached)!

How thin could be a thin wall then??
Nozzle size here: 0.4mm / Layer Height at this object: 0.35mm.

One second question:
Printed a large object with 0.35 layer height with a lot of 8mm-holes and the infill touched the hole-perimeters hardly! (Sorry, I dont' have a picture of it here atm!)
How can I influence the interconnection between perimeter and infill?

But all in all, thanks a lot for the superb work!

Best regards,

Toni

Re: No GCode generated for thin wall (How thin is thin??) - in 0.7.0 still present
February 28, 2012 01:01AM
Hi All (especially @sound)!

I was excited about the new 0.7.0... a lot of smart features!

Unfortunately I found that the above mentioned problem still persists! Even worse, only the very right bar is sliced, and even without infill!

Any comments on that problem?? (I printed out the part again just to verify that RepetierHost doesn't show some kind of crap, but RepetierHost displays it correctly!)

Alessandro, it would be very kind if you could throw in just a couple of words on that (maby something will be solved in future versions;-)

Best Regards,

Toni

Yes, 0.7.0 doesn't contain any work or fix with regards to thin walls so I'm not surprised things haven't changed on this issue yet. Thank you for reporting.

OK, thanks for the info!

Today he met with this problem when printing prusa pulley layer of 0.2 mm
Version slic3r 0.7.0
Gear of the hollow - no fill, wall prints - one layer

For that kind of T5 8 tooth pulley I found that with a 0.5mm nozzle you need to drop the number of perimeters to 1 single. That's not slic3r specific, this is needed for skeinforge too if you want some infill.

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

I do not think this is correct, and not just the gear, and later as a result of the experiments a lot of models or parts of them as incorrect code is generated for the thin-walled parts (not just the 0.5 mm nozzle).

sad ...

Play in Slic3r whis " Extrusion whis Ratio " !!
Test 1.2 or 1.9 !
And see its Infill
