Slic3r with Marlin 1.0 SD Prints

Is there any way to get Slic3r to generate gcode without the ; comments in the gcode? Marlin 1.0 interprets the ; as a retract command.

Although I like the fact that Slic3r puts all the settings in the gcode, Marlin 1.0 has issues with it. When I send the gcode to the SD card via Pronterface it strips off the comments and everything works fine. Sending the gcode that way takes almost as long as printing the object. Do not know why that is so slow.

It is much faster to just copy the gcode directly to the SD card from the computer. Unfortunately, that way leaves the comments in the gcode. I can manually remove the comments with notepad and that works although it is tedious. If there were some way to get Slic3r to generate gcode without comments for the SD card that would be great. Or, maybe some way to automatically remove the comments before they went to the SD card?

Anyone else having this problem or know of a way to get around it?

Thanks,

Jim K.

You could make a post processing script for Slic3r which removes everything from each ";" to the end of the line.

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

Thanks for the info. Have been thinking about upgrading to RC2 anyway.

Sublime,

Thanks for the tip. Confirmed Marlin 1.0 rc2 fixed the problem.
