brim is awsome, I'd been using loops prior to brim.

unfortunately for low layer heights, one layer brim is just not enough. we need a brim height, either in layers or mm.

What is brim?

It's a kind of skirt that touches the perimeter and is multiple extrusions wide. Looks like Saturn rings touching the planet to me.

Some people had nice result using that to fight warping, so its auto generation has been included in the last slic3r version.

Somebody also made a skeinforge plugin modification to generate it.

And there is an openscad module to generate it at the stl level.

See topic [forums.reprap.org]

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

If you generate it at the STL level it wont peel off as the infill will extend into it. It will need to cut off and will leave a ragged edge.

Does anyone know anything about this plugin/modification. I prefer to use skeinforge for my slicing, but there are times when brim can be useful. I find it easier to remove and less wasteful of filament while at the same time it helps the print to adhere.

Last version I know about is here : [forums.reprap.org]

Works fine for me, but you should still keep a backup copy of your original skirt.py file.
