Automatic extra perimeters not working in 0.9.7 ?

The automatic extra perimeters does not seem to be working in 0.9.7. Printing items with a domed top surface it is very obvious when the slope drops below 30 (?) degrees and adjacent perimeters start to separate from each other.

Box "Generate extra perimeters when needed:" is ticked in the config page.

I'm printing 0.3mm layer thickness at a 0.5mm layer width if that is relevant.

Can someone confirm if it is just me, or is there a bug ?

possibly related- the GUI seems to revert to Perimeters (minimum) =2 when I save my config or export a file.

@AndrewC, can you post your STL and config.ini to reproduce the issue with missing extra perimeters?

Filed it as issue #868 on github, unfortunately I'm travelling right now so haven't had a chance to test the suggested commits.
