I have a part I need to print that has 1.8mm radius holes centered on a line 3mm from the edge. This means there should be 1.2mm between the hole and the edge of the part. When drawing the perimeter, Slic3r incorporates circling the hole into the perimeter on
both passes. This means that there is a spot (actually many) where the perimeter is not contiguous. The two sides touch one another, and then go back and circle the hole. This is not only unsightly - it creates a highly visible line on the exterior - but it weakens the part as well - I an essentially bolting together parts that do not have intact bolt holes.
Maybe there are some settings I can try to mitigate this, but it seems odd that it's even done. An intact and contiguous perimeter should be the highest priority when drawing that perimeter.
BTW - skeinforge slices this perfectly. I am moving towards making slic3r my primary slicer, but there are still some things for which I get better results with skeinforge.
