Thin Walls for Letters

Hello-

I need some help with generating the proper gcode files to cut a very particular thing: letters. I am printing on a Lulzbot AO-101 (if that matters). The letters range in width from 1mm-2mm and don't need them to be solid, but I do need them to be capped. The problem I'm getting is inconsistent widths as well as no caps on some of the letters. I've attached a picture showing what I'm looking for vs what is happening.

I have a makerbot and they helped me tweak their code to get it to work right, but I have no idea how to make the same changes in slic3r to get the same results. So far everything I have played with has done little to help (infill or 100% doesn't completely fill in either). I know what I want can be done, I just don't know how to get it, so any advice would be appreciated to help get me started. I am definitely a novice to adjusting 3d code.

Thanks,

-Alex

This is more related to slic3r settings than the printer itself. Do a narrower extrusion width. Also, there is a setting for the top layer--make that very fine and the top layer will look *awesome*. There is a recent release of slic3r with a lot of improvements too, you may want to check that out.

The just released Slic3r 1.0 does a much better job of filling in the top layer.

That being said another way is to tell it the nozzle width is smaller so it thinks there is more room to infill. Incorrect thickness looks like a cooling issue, turn on cooling and set "Slow down if the layer print time is" set to 15 seconds. Then set "Min print speed" to 10mm/s.
