I have a feature request to add the option of turning off the heated bed (starting cooling down) while the last layer or couple of layers are being printed.

Not a bad idea. The developer rarely visits here so you may want to post this on the github (I think this is it [github.com] )

Also you could edit the gcode now to do this manually.
