Slic3r 1.1.5 running on OSX 10.9.3 does not run

Just thought I'd try the latest version of slic3r on my Mac. And, for a change, I did remember to set the Security & Privacy settings to run downloaded apps from anywhere. The Slic3r icon bounces in the bar for a few seconds and then nothing. I have cut-and-pasted an excerpt from the OSC log files that indicates that slicer is crashing. Anyone else seen this? how do I fix it?

Using ABSPrusa Mendel Zaphod with Pronterface and slic3r 1.3.0. Printing well with 3mm PLA and ABS through 2 x J Head Mk IV b and Wade Geared Exruders. Controlled using RAMPS1.4 board running Marlin_v1.1.9

I got all excited today when I noticed the line about building and running slic3r under OSX V10.9. Apparently, 10.9 comes with a version of perl (5.16) which is not compatible with Slic3r. The help file says to use the command line: -

defaults write com.apple.versioner.perl Version 5.12

and I can verify, using perl -v, that the perl version changes from 5.16 to 5.12

But this makes no difference to Slic3r as 1.1.7 still will not run on my Mac as a downloaded App.

I'll post the same information in the Issue I raised in gitHub and hope someone picks it up and points me in the right direction.
