1.2.5 = crash on gear slicing

Hi,

I'm trying to use the new XY Size Compensation feature to get a set of gears the perfect size (not scale, more like designed size for the teeth to mesh properly). I've had a bit of luck with the feature in 1.2.5 on simple test objects (just a square with some holes in it), which look very promising -- but every time I try something more complex, the slicing process crashes.

The file big_gear_top_M5.stl from [www.thingiverse.com] is one example. Netfabb finds no problems in the file, and older 1.1 versions of Slic3r work fine (just makes it a bit too large on the outside and with too small a hole to fit on the axis). However, 1.2.5 will crash. While waiting for 1.2.6, is there some some simple setting that will make 1.2.5 work also?

1.2.5 IS an experimental version. Did you try the stable version: 1.1.7?

1.1.7 works -- but XY Size Compensation is a new feature in the 1.2 series.

I think they are hoping to release a stable 1.2.x soon. Maybe it will address your issue
