Slic3r crashes on W10
August 23, 2016 08:10AM
AS my Macbook is currently under repair,
I installed Slic3r 1.2.9 on my new HP W10 laptop.

But every 2nd or 3rd load, it will crash.

1st load after start will always be good.
When I add, or add after delete, it will crash often.

Is there a known issue with either the HP of the W10 ?

I see this crash issue a lot on my Windows 10 systems. I turned off the background processing under preferences and the crashing has gone away. It does take a little longer to export the gcode, but I'll take that over the crashing any day of the week.

This bug has been around for a long time. The following seems to reduce its occurrence:

1. If you are upgrading form an older version of slic3r, delete all the configuration info from the old version and re-enter it.

2. After slicing a model, exit slic3r before you load and slice another model.

3. Set it to run in single-threaded mode.

I got so fed up with it crashing that I bought S3D. But I occasionally still use slic3r.

Please try with the semi-official Slic3r builds by LoH

or with our Prusa3D builds:

The official Slic3r builds are outdated.
