Model crashes Slic3r on loading
May 13, 2018 09:30AM
Hi all,

Trying to get Slic3r to work with the attached models. Every time I load either model, Slic3r crashes. They are full size (i.e. several meters across), but I have not had problems with other large models, they just get scaled down and fit on the platform. Just wondering if anyone else can try and load them to see if they have the same issues. STL were created through SolidWorks 2015 and exported. I have had no other issues with any other STL's exported in the same way. It just seems to be these two files. I can open the STL's in other applications and they work fine.

I am using Slic3r 1.2.9

Any help would be much appreciated.

Loaded both models into Cura 14.04.6
Loaded both models into idealMaker 3.1.0 Auto Scaled
Loaded both models into Netfabb Studio Basic 4.9
Loaded both models into Audodesk Meshmixer 3.4.35

Could not open with Slic3r Object appears to be too large to be auto scaled.

Open with one of the others and Save as scaled STL file.

Thanks for the great feedback. I didn't realise there were so many more flavours available. Installing Prusa Edition now. Thanks again.

Don't use 1.2.9. Use 1.3.0- they fixed a lot of bugs.
