Is there any way that Repetier host can be installed on a chromebook?Would be a nice inexpensive interface.

I do not think so. idea of chromebook is to have all remote web apps. So Repetier-Server might be want you want. That could run on a Raspberry Pi 2 next to your computer and do the work and offers a web interface. Slicer will follow

I think a lot of people reflash chromebooks with linux, which could run Repetier-Host. But there is always a risk involved in doing that, not something Repetier could really support.
