Repetier host print time estimation
December 11, 2012 03:18AM
I love using Repetier Host. The one thing that does not work right is the printing time estimate. I understand it would be very hard to get very accurate but it's so far off it might as well not be there.

For my past 30 prints it's been between 50% to 300% off. If it says a print will take 1 hour I can be pretty sure it will be closer to 2 hours. Even when near done like tonight it said it had 5 minutes left so I timed it. It's now been 14 minutes and it's still printing, that's like 300% off.

Any way to get it more accurate?

Config -> Printer Settings -> Printer -> Add to comp. Printig Time [%]

Estimation is based on the assumption, that the print occurs with the requested feedrate. As scuba pointed out, you can add a fixed percentage to that to take acceleration into account. If you have prints with much acceleration, e.g. hex infill, estimation gets much worser then with linear infill.

Don't know how I missed that setting thanks!.

I always print with linear infill.

At least with the compensation I should be able to get closer.

Repetier: I assume you are the author? If so thanks for the program. You did a very good job. Maybe you should write a slicer program :-)

Sorry to open up such an old topic, but I am surprised the printing time calculation hasn't improved since..

Printing a Voronoi Yoda Bust, repetier said it would take me... 1 hour and 20 minutes, using rectilinear infill. Would it be because I have 3 perimeters on instead of 2? And I could've printed it without infill I think.. The tubes in the print are very thin so I don't think it needs infill for extra strength..

And it's now already printing from 21:09 and it's now exactly 01:00

So thats roughly already four hours!
And it's only at layer 224 of 344.

So still 120 more layers to go, which probably means around... 3 more hours of printing.
I have to abort and go to bed now sad smiley ... four hours of printing for nothing haha.
