Hi,

Been having a few problems with 0.95f and the previous 0.95e but 0.9c works ok.

I have tried uninstalling everything including the registry keys, Ran in 16 and 32bit graphics mode and different resolutions.

Guessing its to do with the graphics ?.

I have the same problem than you. Even I have the same video card. I've made the same steps you did.
And have no idea how to solve it.

Re: host 0.95f crashing

Ok, I found 2 things which were different to 0.90. One is the new exception handling which causes a program to crash instead of catching the error. I found a workaround for that. I also moved the paint to a later time when opengl window is definitely loaded. I hope one of those makes the difference. So please download latest 0.95F (same version name) and report if it now works.

Thanks for getting back,

Tried the new version and no windows errors but loads in repetier, Hopefully thers a link to a screenshot showing the errors

^^ The link to the url works

Thanks Adam

Ok, I made the crashing routine catch the error and write it to log. Hoped there would be none.
Can you copy one line and post it. It goes far to the right so even if the image would be readable I could not see the full message.

Just downloaded .95f tonight and now files that had no issues loading before wont?? It took 5 hours for me to import an stl tonight and then 18 seconds to slice it...any idea as to what I can do to get rid of this issue?

I had no problems with importing so far. Where can I find that stl file that takes so long?

I have down load 0.95F new version, when I press run job, it shows checksum mismatch, and can not continue to run.
The screen shows it as below image.

The M106 command looks strange. These two last characters look wrong, so I guess it has to do with sending printing time to the printer. You can disable this in printer settings.

Which language does your windows use?

@Scubasteve23

I could import all files within a few seconds. So it is not the file or the file handling. I also do not think it is the graphic card. Could it be a memory problem, so windows started to swap memory to disk? I used a virtual machine with 4gb ram for testing. You could try and run a performance monitor in parallel.

When I set the language as traditional Chinese then it will happen, nothing to do with transmission time.

I'm a bit clueless at the moment. With 8gb memory you have more then me, so it should indeed be no memory issue. And loading is simple creation and testing of datastructures, so nothing a os can influence. Is there a special position of the progress bar where it slows down (screenshot)? Is it always with large models or are small objects (<1Mcool smiley also slow.

I just checked and I do have 8GB of Ram on a 64 BIt operating system... It doesnt pause at all..it just never starts...I can load anything under about 15000kb but anything more than that it goes right to (Not Responding) I don't get why it would do this...its very frustrating.... I can run solid works no problem and import these models into it in seconds if that...so I am at a loss right now

What do you guys need to help me diagnose this?

Re: host 0.95f crashing

I have just reread the loading code. Your koolaidman is a ascii stl file. So it gets opened for binary reading, closed and reopened for ascii reading. Then you see the progress bar increase until the end of file is reached. There are no allocations at all at the beginning, so if 13mb works the progress bar should increase to at least that position. So I guess it is a problem with perhaps your virus scanner preventing the opening of the file. Can you try to import it with virus scanner disabled. It would also be interesting if it also happens with large binary stl files or obj files, which open the file only once.

With Virus Scanner off it didnt change anything importing the file into Repetier-Host...or did you mean you want me to re-download the model from thingiverse with the virus scanner off?
Re: host 0.95f crashing
February 08, 2014 01:37PM
No I don't think the files are broken. I just thought maybe the virus scanner would prevent opening the file. In your first post you said it takes long to import them not never starts. So is it now very slow or does the progress bar never start to grow?

How about the binary stl files and obj format? Same problem there?

When you open them in a text editor and you can read them it is ascii otherwise binary.

My brother had a computer with the same problem. I installed my debugging environment and the error was gone:-( But perhaps that is a indication to the problem. Could you install the newest .NET 4.5.1 version, which was one of the actions done between not working and working. The other thing I changed was installing the free Visual Studio 2012 express. So one of both causes a update in the .NET library that solves the problem responsible for the hang. Please report if you know what of the two helps to fix it.

I have noticed this version running significantly slower than the previous one I had installed .95c I think???
Specially when viewing the paths in the 3D view, even with a small part it almost freezes up.

I found the solution for this issue.

Open Intel Graphics Control Panel, 3D settings, in bits delph option, change "default" to "delph buffer 24 bits", enjoy.

Great, that you have found a solution.

What value did it contain before? I think both 24 and 32 bit should work as well.

This is happening in linux too, albeit when middle-clicking in the 3d view randomly.

It's existed for quite awhile too, so not sure what the bug might be..
Re: host 0.95f crashing

I had a similar problem with .95f hanging/crashing on relatively large files (around 30MB ). They sliced okay (much faster than .9c, where I first ran into the problem) but Repetier went nonresponsive while generating the sliced visual. Like previous posters I got errors related to reading/writing protected memory and OpenTK. Also like an earlier poster, files in the 15MB range run okay.

My computer is a midgrade laptop, but it has no problem running CAD with fairly large files.

As a work around, selecting "Show Single Layer" in gcode visuals allowed successful completion of slicing, appaarently by reducing the graphics load.

Installing the latest drivers for my graphics card solved the problem altogether.

I think the driver runs out of memory. You should not underestimate the ram requirements for large files. normal quLity means the cylinders have 4 vertices per circle ith 4 normals and 4 quads per segment. A segment is perhaps 50 byte gcode, so you calculate that quite some video memory is needed. Showing a single layer requires much less memory and thus succeeds. Ou could use simple as drawing style for such large objects. There only one vertex and line per segment is needed, so you han handle 6 times larger files.
