Upload GCODE to OctoPrint/Rep.Server from Rep.Host directly

Hi,

The popularity of server-based RepRaps is increasing - with some nice options including OctoPrint and Rep.Server running on e.g. RPi.

However, the SW-ToolChain is not ideal and currently involves two separate "programs":
1) Slice the model in Repetier Host or similar, save GCode (1.st program)
2) Upload GCode using browser-controlled Rep.Server/OctoPrint. (browser acting as a second program).

Without the server, i.e. running directly over USB, I only need ONE program e.g. Repetier Host which can send the GCODE directly to the 3Dprinter after slicing.

I wonder if anyone thought about integrating above steps into a single one. For example, it would be nice if one could use Repetier Host to Slice the model and then upload to Repetier Server from Rep.Host DIRECTLY.

Any ideas about this or am I missing something?

This has been mentioned before (can't remember where). I think the response was that that is the eventual plan. Although Rep-Serv seems to have died off somewhat at the moment. Understandable as Rep-Firm and Host start to reach V1. It is a shame though that it has been a while, 6 months since last update in dev branch on github - although with Rep-Host going closed source this may not indicate anything.

I hope it gets there before Octoprint brings in multiple printers or its main benifit will have been lost.
