some questions about config (heater PID, endstops)
September 11, 2014 04:28AM
Hi!

I want to setup my new 3D-Printer with Repetier firmware, so I am using the online config tool:

Some points are still not clear for me:

1. The PID Settings for Heater (Extruder, Bed)
What is the difference between "Max PWM value" and "PID drive maximum"?
And does the "Heater PWM speed" affect theese values? (Do I need to set "Max PWM value" to 64, when using "61Hz 64 values"?)

2. The Endstops:
What is the difference between the settings "Switch on GND" and "Electronic"?
I want to use Hall-Endstops. They have a NPN on "signal line", so they work like "common mechanical switches" (with higher impedance).

1. Max PWM is e.g. at startup what you allow here. Normally 255 unless heater is too strong.
PID Drive maximum/minimum is a target range while in PID mode. So if you know 220 is more then enough, you limit it to 220 so PID will never create higher values and converges faster while still allowing 255 for the first heat up.
PWM speed does not effect value ranges. Firmware takes care of this, so assume always 0-255.

2. Mechanical endswitches turn pullup on, while electroic variants don't.
