3d preview suddenly looks ugly
May 07, 2015 10:13AM
Hello.

Since I updated my AMD video driver, the 3d preview in Repetier looks really ugly!
I can't see the layers very well anymore, unless I zoom in ridiculously far.
(see attached pictures)
There are these strange green zigzag lines at the corners of the model too. This usually never happened.

It looks like there is no more anti aliasing, however I have it enabled, and the grid on the bed is smoothed.
Any ideas?

1. Black isn't the best color for previewing. Not sure if slicer also did strange things with the bad stl.
2. Green triangles are wrong oriented normals in model. Normally they are in ithe inside so you only see them if you cut a object.
3. Bet lines use a different trick for smoothing, not antialiasing. Not all drivers support antialiasing in all modes or not that antialias method we use.

I have always used black for the preview. It was always perfect for me to view the model, but now it suddenly is very weird.

The green triangles do not stay in the same position on the model, when I rotate my camera.
Even if I just use a simple cube as a model, it has these strange green triangles on the sides.

They should not change of course. Normals don't change. Looks like the new driver then does compute front/backside wrong somehow in a random fashion. Would also explain why gcode looks also a bit strange. Maybe driver has a bug there since it worked before your driver update. Could you try an older version (also maybe not that old then your original version).
