Z lowers by Z_PROBE_HEIGHT after Homing to Z_MAX
December 13, 2015 10:22AM
Hi,
I use a Prusa i3 with Z-MAX endstop and homing to Z-MAX and latest repetier firmware 0.92.6.
After homing, Z lowers by Z_PROBE_HEIGHT (which is 40 by default) and then references this point as Z_MAX_LENGTH.
Any idea why it does that? I lose Z_PROBE_HEIGHT on my print volume for no reason... I've set it to 0 for now because I've not installed a Z-Probe yet.

My assumption is (and someone please correct me if I am wrong!) But it is ready to compensate for the leveled bed when you have a z-probe, as it will need this travel for the compensating factor?

Have you got autobed enabled? If so does disabling it stop this behaviour?

Yes, it is enabled because I plan to use it. However, it makes no sense that it would reserve Z_PROBE_HEIGHT for additional compensation travel because the amount of compensation travel depends of the max delta-Z of the different probe values which has no relation to Z_PROBE_HEIGHT...
