How much does it cost?

Hey everybody,
I've been looking to get into 3d printing, and tantillus has the right speed and quality that i want... and it looks good smiling smiley

I was wondering if it is possible to build a tantillus for £300, my school has a makerbot and a laser cutter so there is a possibility that i could use them..

Anyone think this is possible?

Random questions I have:
- How does tantillus manage a bowden setup while reducing stringing
- Why use nema 17, if nema 14, or maybe even 11 can be used with such little mass

Thanks!

High back pressure hotend (J-head)
Kisslicer as the slicer
Very fast acceleration

None of the motors move so mass is not a concern.
Nema 17's cost less than 14's or 11's
We need the torque (even more would be better)

What nozzle size would you recommend, I have the choice between 0.35, 0.4 and 0.5?

I print everything with a 0.5 and often recommend it to start as it reduces the chances of having a clogged nozzle. But there are times that a smaller nozzle would be better. Like when trying to print small items or tiny details. The profiles I have provided are for 0.5 and 0.35.

Ahh Okay thanks, how many hours would you say the printed parts would need to print? (I have to convince my teachers >grinning smiley< )

Hard to say as it is based on the machine printing them. But maybe you can figure it out by knowing the parts end up weighing 500g to 800g depending on the density.
