I'm also working on something to replace the bulky hinges with a miniature insert that will do the same thing

It was interesting to try but I'll just keep the lasercut y-carriage.
- The printed sliders in the last configuration (only on the inner side of the frame) had too much play, and the inserted hinge was not locked on the extrusion : it could move in Z, while the new version of the hinge-inner cut in half the printed volume and so the gain is less important (I prefer to be safe with the original hinge mecanism).

Resurrecting this idea for the FoldaRap 3, and finally it works well
That replace :
By two printed parts...
Simplicity wins.
Leaving also room to replace the printed m3-nut-housing by winged-nut (easier to use)
