Hi,
First of all, let me thank NopHead for a nicely designed printer and a great instructions manual. I have just completed assembling my kit (purchased from NopHead) for the Mendel90.
Prior to plugging in the printer and testing it out, I have some questions concerning the electronics wiring for the Melzi terminal.
I am a little confused as to the correct order of the wires for GND and Signal. When following the guide in the instructions manual at page 63, then I presume that the guide starts with the wires at top and descend downwards. For example, it starts with ETEMP GND and here Ribbon 4 should be connected etc etc.
The third entry in the guide is for BTEMP GND and here the BLACK Bed thermistor GND wire should be connected. The fourth entry is for BTEMP Signal and here the RED Bed Thermistor Signal wire should be connected. I then presume that at BTEMP, the BLACK wire goes at the slot above the slot for the RED wire. But when looking at the image for a wired up machine in the instruction manual at page 64; then at BTEMP, the RED wire is above the BLACK wire. The same difference between the guide and the image could also be observed at entry 9 and 10 for the XSTOP, where the written guide has the half-red Ribbon 1 wire below Ribbon 2, but at the image it is the opposite.
Does the order of the wires for GND and Signal not matter or is there something else I have not understood here? (I might have, since it is late and I have been working on the printer the whole day
)
Also just a minor question regarding the currently unused Ribbon 5; should it be sleeved with heatshrink or could it just be left tinned and hanging unconnected to anything?
I have attached an image of my wiring of the Melzi terminal where I have wired it as I have interpreted (wrongly?) the written guide in the manual and there is therefore a slight difference as compared to the image in the manual, please feel free to point out any errors I might have made!
I realise that my post got a bit lengthier than I first envisioned and probably too detailed making it a whole lot boring, but I blame it on this being my first post at the forum and as such being a newbie making a too detailed post about most likely a simple problem!
Thanks in advance for all the help!
Best regards, Jonas
