Improvement of printout
September 01, 2013 02:32PM
Trying to print a gear as shown in pict.jpg I got two problems:
first the upper edge was transformed to a bubble. Here purposely the extruding temperature was to high, but how to Change?
second one edge of the gear is bend to the side.
How can I improve this printout?

I had similar problems, when printing with PLA objects with layers, which take only few time.
I think its not a problem with the extruding temperature. The problem is, that the layer down isn't stiff enough, when the next layer is printed.

In the cool script of Skeinforge there are some settings to deal with this problem. Orbiting doesn't work for me. "slow down" is better.

Nophead mentioned an alternative cool script. This script can activate the fan for fast layers. I installed it and it worked perfectly for my problems. But I can't remember where I found it in the Web.

Yes for small areas you need to slow down by setting the minimum layer time and use the fan. If that does not work print more than one at a time or add another dummy object like a thin cylinder.

It is easier to print small features with ABS.
