so the metal bit came apart from the sleeve.

while trying to solve the connectivity issues , i was playing around with the pronterface, possibly with the wrong settings.
I had the hotend to 220C without the fan on, and tried to extrude,
I then noticed that the metal head is "dripping away" oozing green plastic.

I susppect that this has started on a previous print (a few months ago)
the head was a ~ 1mm too low, it would smudge and run against previous layers , (and when i later tried to callibrate the Z i saw it was 202.9 , where previously it was 203)

i think that the friction against the previous solid layers lossened it greatly, , when Y would move back and forth, i noticed the entire extruder assembly, vibrating along the X axis.

do i need a new one ? (this is PLA , the green)
can this be fixed

It is a screw fit and you can screw it back on after cleaning it up. It does need teflon tape over the thread to give a tighter fit and avoid leakage. If it turns out to be unrepairable I would recommend the E3D at [e3d-online.com] . You do however lose 2.4 cm of z build area as it is longer (my Z is now 178.9).

Some of the hot ends we received around the time you bought your kit come apart like that. We will have to send you a new one as they are not repairable. The thread in the PEEK is too big.

Nophead,

I had received my kit this past late April/early May, and my hot end has done this same thing twice now. Do I possibly have the same problem with the threads in the PEEK being too big?

Yes, they shouldn't come apart when they are correctly manufactured.
