Had a serious 'oh my goodness it actually works' moment last night.

Excellent. How about sharing a photo of the printer too?

Hi Rich

Sure, here's the finished kit: [marcos.scriven.org] - really like the black Dibond

Very interesting reading your blog by the way, impressed you built your own from scratch. The kit is most definitely the easy route.

Fine look Marcos. Did mine in dibond also
Mendel90 2 bits ali on base.
On yours is the base dibond too?
Is the white band in the hot end area part of fan duct ?

Hi Mike

As I commented to Rich, I'm so impressed by people that build these things from scratch - did it take you long to prepare the dibond (cutting/drilling)?

When you say the base, do you mean the base of the bed? I which case yes - though on top there's a piece cardboard covered in aluminium tape (as specified in the build instructions), apparently to prevent warping when printing ABS (which I'm way off yet). The base of the machine itself is also black dibond - which is surprisingly stiff given its lightness.

And yes, the white strip is actually just the front of the duct - Nop Head talks about how he designed it, half way down this post: [hydraraptor.blogspot.co.uk]

Yes,longest part of the build . Hit problems with aligning the gantry 90 degrees to the base caused by curvature in the dibond. Original plan 2 x 3mm bases with recesses for fixing heads in one. That didnt work so added the ali rails to fix.

No I meant the base of the printer, understand now dibond too. Couldnt see the ali rails in your pic.

Thanks for the link, been while since I went to hydraraptor blog.
