Spool Holder for 1kg Spools

I made a very simple 1kg version spool holder today for the dibond version of the kit. I couldn't find one on Thingiverse, so I made my own. Details are here if you're interested smiling smiley

Nice simple design. My only concern would be dust.

I use daichiasuka v2 variation of Nopheads, works for the two different size 1kg spools I've bought (tall and think, short and thick).

I guess dust could be an issue, if it ever stays still long enough grinning smiley Maybe some kind of in-line dust filter would work. Just the square bit from nopheads design but sitting just above the extruder assembly...

I like the idea of having more than one spool set up at once but the daichiasuka is also good if it works with several sizes.

Yes, you should always have a dust shield on your extruder.

It is very simple to take a standard dish washer sponge:

and cut out a square (or circle) that fits well on top of your extruder.

Then use a hole punch to cut a 2-3 mm hole in the middle of the sponge and then use a pair of scissors to cut from one side to the middle of the hole.

Now you can simply clip the sponge onto your filiament.
Since all the force is pulling down it should remain where it is.
When you change the filament remove the sponge, remove any built-up lint and attach to the new filament after insertting into the extruder.

Works fine and lasts a long time!

I might have to try this holder out. I had another jam yesterday which I'm pretty sure is due to tension on my current spool holder. I'll now have to take the nozzle off whilst hot to remove the jam.

I think this solution might solve this.

@3ddude OMG! Got enough filament? You planning to build a house with it grinning smiley (its only because I'm jealous)

I 2nd the daichiasuka v2 on thingiverse, it works really well with all the spools I have.
