Y-axis losing steps when homed [SOLVED]
May 09, 2013 09:56AM
Hi there!

Just finished my Mendel90 from Nophead and done some test prints. Everything works fine, except from when I home the Y-axis. The print bed hits the trigger perfectly, but then the Y-motor starts losing steps (I think) and makes a loud "struggling sound".

Everything is aligned perfectly, and the Y-axis works fine when it's printing, but not when homed.

Anyone that can help?

If it sounds like it is struggling, the end stop being triggered is probably not working as expected.

In pronterface:
1) Click the "Motors Off" button
2) Move the heat bed away from the Y end stop and issue an M119 command.
3) While holding the end stop button with your finger, issue another M119 command.

Are the responses in the pronterface window the same?

When the button isn't pressed, you should get a ymin value of "L". When the button is held down, you should get a ymin value of "H".

Hi Floyd,

The trigger are working fine. It gives L-signal when not pressed and H-signal when pressed.

Does it read H when the Y carriage is manually pushed against the switch?

Yes, H when the Y carriage are manually pushed against the switch.

However, the Y-motor suddenly started to behave as normal, after a few prints. smiling smiley
